BLUES 44-14 REDS
That's it! A convincing win for the Blues. The Reds' wretched season continues. What game from Ma'a Nonu! Thanks for joining us, Cheers!
CONVERSION, WEST. 44-14. That's the icing on the cake!
TRY, BLUES, WEST. 42-14. Piutau intercepts a delayed pass from Frisby. Ihaia West is on hand to collect the offload and sprints 50m to score under the posts!
Oh! Ben Lucas can't collect Cooper's kick ahead. A try looked on the cards there...
Cooper can clear for the Reds after Daley forces the penalty for not releasing right on his own line. Good to see the Reds fighting until the final whistle.
The TMO denies the Blues this time. Hickey makes a good break and Moala collects the offload off the ground but he is held up as he crashes over.
Blues scrum still looking strong. West shows some good feet as Luatua now has a run - Blues are making great metres up field, now inside the Reds 22...but again it's turned over. The Reds do the same as they build to inside the hosts' half but Brendon O'Connor forces the turnover penalty on the deck.
Impressive play from the Blues who keep possession with a lot of good offloads as they build into the Reds 22. The visitors turn it over eventually though as Tuipulotu is forced to hold on at a ruck.
CONVERSION, COOPER. 37-14.
TRY, REDS, HORWILL. 37-12. They deserve that. A series of close-range drives eventually sees the skipper muscle his way over.
The Reds hammer away, keeping it tight. They're aiming for the base of the post but are stopped short. Another 5m scrum to the Reds, right under the posts.
Jake Schatz barges over! The ref can't see a clear grounding and neither can the TMO, so no try! That's harsh, it looked like a try for all money. The Reds denied again...
Whoa. The Blues hanging on in defence here. Nonu is caught behind his own goal line and must dot down. 5m scrum to the Reds. Nonu is substituted for West.
PENALTY, BLUES, HICKEY. 37-7. The Blues hit back.
CONVERSION, REDS, COOPER. 34-7. Two more for them.
TRY, REDS, DALEY. 34-5. The visitors are over via a driving maul and it''s the prop the last to his feet.
YELLOW CARD, BLUES, WOODCOCK. He goes for a punch on Reds flanker Ed Quirk. Pointless from the loosehead.
CONVERSION, BLUES, HICKEY. 34-0. The lead grows.
TRY, BLUES, DONNELLY. 32-0. There it is. Halai made the bust on the right side before offloading to his big lock who dived over. Bonus-point try secured.
No joy. Great defensive work led by Moala sees the Blues recover and win a breakdown penalty. They'll be thrilled with that the Blues as the crowd cheer.
It's the Reds doing the attacking though now as they set up camp just five metres out from the home line.
The Blues will hope to keep the Reds at bay as Hall kicks up to his own ten-metre. They will also want to secure a fourth and bonus-point try in the game.
CONVERSION, BLUES, HICKEY. 27-0. What a margin.
TRY, BLUES, HALL. 25-0. The Blues are dominant at scrum time and now Charles Piutau fends off Tapuai before the recycled ball sees Nonu set up Hall for their third score. The Reds are in disarray here.
Welcome back to Eden Park where the Blues lead the Reds by 20 points to nil. A change for the Reds to mention as Jamie-Jerry Taulagi replaces wing Chris Feauai-Sautia. Reds scrum as Slipper watches on.
Half-time: Blues 20-0 Reds
CONVERSION, BLUES, HICKEY. 20-0. An easy two points.
TRY, BLUES, VISINIA. 18-0. And he is rewarded for that strong first-half. From a Nonu grubber, the winger races under the posts, dives on the loose ball and it's the Blues over again. Massive score.
Great work from Genia again - he's playing very well today - as he wins a turnover via a turnover from a scrum. However, from the clearance the ball is back with Blues wing Visinia 20 out. He's also been busy.
YELLOW CARD, REDS, SLIPPER. Not clever from Slipper as he lifts the legs of Saili. Ten minutes for him. The Blues will now kick down to the Reds 22-metre.
CONVERSION, BLUES, HICKEY. 13-0. Excellent strike.
TRY, BLUES, WILLISON. 11-0. They bring out the big guns as Visinia creates for Willison on the inside for the game's first try. It comes at a cost though as Willison hobbles off, replaced by George Moala.
The Reds have more defensive work to do here though as the Blues pack down in centre-field 30 out from the opposition line. What can they muster here?
Genia take a bow. He has just saved his side as it looked for all money that Hall was sprinting down the line for a try. Step up Genia who dive tackled him into touch fifteen metres out. Superb defence.
So it remains 6-0 to the Blues, who enjoy territory and possession once more with Nonu shifting the ball out to Visinia on the left wing. It now comes right with the play ending with a grubber that leads to the visitors dropping out from their own 22-metre.
They almost did and how. Liam Gill thought he had scored after slipping through and racing under the posts but the TMO stated he was tackled before he got back to his feet. Unlucky but the right call.
Another penalty for the Reds but this time it is outside Cooper's range so the fly-half pushes it into the 22. Will they succeed with ball in hand?
Can the Blues punish Cooper and the Reds? They have a scrum bang on halfway in centre-field so it's a perfect position for their back-line to threaten.
Oh dear, Cooper misses with his second shot, this time from 40 metres out after the Blues infringe again. Not the best start to his 100th Reds game.
Kaino deserves a rocket from Sir John Kirwan at the break as he kicks the ball in a ruck from an offside position. Luckily for him, Cooper misses the long-range attempt so the score remains 6-0 in Auckland.
PENALTY, BLUES, HICKEY. 6-0. Another easy three for Hickey as the Reds offend. The lead is doubled then.
That's superb from the Blues pack as they drive the Reds off their own ball to win a penalty. Again it goes to the corner, with Nonu carrying soon after.
That's poor from Rob Simmons as he makes contact with Tom Donnelly at line-out time. Net result, Hickey drills his side up to halfway but then Mealamu's throw isn't straight. Reds scrummage.
PENALTY, BLUES, HICKEY. 3-0. Side entry from the Reds now and it costs them three points. It was a simple kick for young Hickey so the Blues lead.
Side entry at ruck time from Jerome Kaino brings an end to that attack though so the Reds come away and make it to halfway with ease. Positive start here.
Turnover play for the Blues as Ma'a Nonu rips the ball out of Mike Harris' grasp. That all leads to the Reds not rolling away so up steps Hickey, who kicks to the visiting 22. Opportunity coming up.
The Reds go through the phases before we come back for a high tackle on Will Genia. Cooper will punt down the sideline with a line-out coming 45 out.
Here we go then with Simon Hickey getting things going to his right. Let's hope it's a great game.
Reds fly-half Quade Cooper will make his 100th appearance, for the Brisbane-based franchise. Meanwhile, Reds head coach Richard Graham has made four changes to his starting line-up. In the forwards, Greg Holmes and Liam Gill return to the starting line-up. Holmes is back at tighthead prop, with Ben Daley moving to the bench and James Slipper shifting to loosehead. Gill is back for the first time since injuring his hamstring five weeks ago and will start at openside flanker, with Beau Robinson moving to the bench. In the backs, Rod Davies and Anthony Fainga'a return to the starting fifteen, with Jamie-Jerry Taulagi and Ben Lucas to the bench. Davies will go to left wing and Fainga'a to inside centre, with Mike Harris moving to fullback.
Blues midfielder Francis Saili is out of this clash after limping out of training. Saili was initially in the starting XV but Jackson Willison comes into the team to replace him. Blues boss Sir John Kirwan made just one injury-enforced change to his original run-on side. Brendon O'Connor starts at openside flanker in the absence of skipper Luke Braid who took a blow to the shoulder in last week's victory over the Waratahs.
