FULL-TIME: REBELS 20-36 REDS
CONVERSION, REBELS, WOODWARD! 20-36
TRY, REBELS, INMAN! 18-36 They do indeed finish with a bang in their last home game of the season. But it's been a pretty one-sided encounter at AAMI Park.
Rebels back on the ball again with two minutes to play, looking to finish with a flourish.
Things petering out a little in Melbourne as the tempo drops considerably. Rebels spill and Reds have a scrum on halfway.
CONVERSION, REDS, HARRIS! 13-36 No problem for Harris with the conversion. That rounds things off nicely for the visitors.
TRY, REDS, DAVIES! 13-34 That's the ball-game. Davies gets his try at last, super angle, cuts through the defence, steps one way and the other to burn his way over.
Comedy moment in Melbourne as Jones fires the ball off Gardiner. Great replay on the ref-cam.
And at the other end, Rod Davies would have been under the posts after a lightning intercept from the base of the ruck. He's called back for offside, Rebels go to the corner. Replays suggest he was on.
Oh, the Rebels almost breaking from deep again, but can't quite put the passes together.
On comes Hugh Pyle for his final appearance at AAMI Park in a Rebels jersey as he moves on.
Woodward so close from the touchline, hits the upright. Still 16 points separate the teams. 22 minutes left.
TRY, REBELS, HEGARTY! 13-29 It could be try number two for the Rebels - Hegarty and Higginbotham break out from deep, and the former beats Turner to the touchdown. Did he ground it? Yes!
Woodward can't convert from the left-hand-side, into the same breeze that castled Harris in the first half. Will that spark the hosts, though?
TRY, REBELS, BURGESS! 8-29 What brilliant rugby from Shota Horie! On a lovely, arcing run, dummies twice, burns Slipper and throws a super offload inside. The move looked to be disrupted as Kingston's pass was batted away, but Burgess gathered and burrowed his way over. Well played, Rebels, at long last.
CONVERSION, REDS, HARRIS! 3-29
TRY, REDS, TURNER! 3-27 The pressure tells again, it''s so easy for the Reds here. Turner strolls over in the corner.
Almost another cracking try from Davies, who just clips the touchline as he gathers his own chip ahead to dot down.
But ANOTHER penalty stunts them as Higginbotham is all over the head of James Horwill.
We're back underway in Melbourne. The Rebels have their work cut out, and they win an early penalty on the visitors' 10m line. Corner it is.
HALF-TIME: REBELS 3-22 REDS
Harris can't convert from the corner, but what a half of rugby from the Reds. Clever stuff, doing the basics well, and capitalising on indiscipline and errors from the Rebels.
TRY, REDS, FRISBY! 3-22 Yes they can! Almost a carbon copy of the last try as Frisby wriggles his way over in the corner again. The Reds are on fire.
Yet more penalties against the Rebels. The crowd are furious. Reds to the corner again, can they bag a fourth?
Unsurprisingly, Harris not able to add the conversion from the touchline. And straight from the kick-off, Frisby turns villain as he gets charged down. Woodward inches away from scoring at the corner - great tackle from Horwill.
TRY, REDS, FRISBY! 3-17 They've got it! And the Reds are running away with this one. Holmes breaks off the maul, is hauled down short, pops it up to Frisby who steps Burgess and dives over. Is this game dead already?
Penalties flying in for the Reds deep in Rebels territory - Higginbotham is warned. Reds attack again.
YELLOW CARD, REBELS, INMAN! The centre is sent for ten minutes after a perceived late tackle on Robinson. No arms either. Reds very much in the driving seat as they punt down into the corner.
Good Rebels defence again, but it's their attack and failure to capitalise on possession and field position that is really hurting them here. They kick down to the Reds 10m line - Turner is back on.
Harris can't add the extras.
TRY, REDS, HARRIS! 3-12 Superb try from the Reds! Lovely grubber through from Tapuai after the Rebels persistently rushed up in defence. It sat up for Davies, and though he was home free, he passed inside to send the full-back over.
Another three-point opportunity for the visitors as Weeks fails to use his arms in the tackle, and this time Harris goes for goal. No problem for the full-back. The wind proves to be his downfall, though, as he canons his effort off the post.
Rebels lineout really not working so far. They've lost two in the past ten minutes.
Very good defence from the Rebels, however. The soak up the pressure, disrupt the maul, and win the penalty.
And a penalty from the maul gives Harris a chance to restore the seven-point lead. He goes for the corner, though - big statement of intent.
Now the Reds with a penalty on halfway as Inman fails to release the tackled player. The monstrous Melbourne wind means it's beyond Harris' range. he goes for touch and finds the 22.
Try-scorer Turner has taken out Hegarty in the air right from the kick-off. A sore one, but the right call.
PENALTY, REBELS, WOODWARD! 3-7 Horwill in from the side, Woodward cuts the gap to four in his last home game for the Rebels.
CONVERSION, REDS, HARRIS! 0-7 Nice kick from Harris, 0-7 lead for the visitors, against the run of play.
TRY, REDS, TURNER! 0-5 Well, the visitors have silenced AAMI Park, from absolutely nothing. Nice hands along the line creates a simple overlap and Davies puts the substitute away for an easy finish.
Wrong option from Hegarty who dummied once, and should have given it the second time. He's wrapped up, turned over and penalised. A bit of naivety there from the Rebels pivot.
Very sad, very freakish injury to Shipperley. Turner comes on as the winger is carted off.
Big shunt and a strike against the head gives the Rebels another chance to make inroads, but he collides with referee Gardiner, and must settle for the scrum. Shipperley is down and in some serious discomfort - he's suffered a nasty and very unfortunate twist of the knee, it's a stretcher job.
Higginbotham goes for an offload from the ground that Ellison just can't hold. Opportunity missed and it's cleared away. Reds wind up with a scrum on their own 10m line.
Good start from the hosts who hold up a maul and win a scrum on the Reds 22.
The teams are out - in their indigenous-style jerseys - in Melbourne, and we're underway as Lucas kicks off.
Sean McMahon returns to the Rebels blindside, with Colby Fainga'a moving across to the openside and Scott Fuglistaller dropping down to the bench. Amongst the backs, Jack Debreczeni makes his run-on debut at full-back, which means Jason Woodward shifts to right wing while Wallaby scrum-half Luke Burgess also returns to the starting line-up, after recovering from an ankle injury sustained in the corresponding fixture in Brisbane in Round 14.
No Will Genia or Quade Cooper for the troubled visitors - Nick Frisby and Ben Lucas take their place in the half-backs - while young forwards Curtis Browning and Jake Schatz return to the back-row.
