The Blues are on the attack close to the ''Tahs'' line but lose possession and the visitors try to launch one last attack. The launch several attacks, and are soon inside the blues'' half until Jono Lance throws a shocking pass into touch. That''s the end of the game and the Blues are deserved winners. It was an entertaining spectacle as both sides made an effort to keep the ball alive but in the end the side that made less errors claimed the win.

The Blues take the ball through several phases, close to the Waratahs' try-line until Sam Prattley loses it while making contact.

There''s some concern in the Blues ranks as Luke Braid receives medical attention for a shoulder injury.

Foley takes a shot at goal after Angus Ta'avao is penalised for dropping his bind at a scrum. The kick is just wide of the target, however, and the home side gain a reprieve.

PENALTY, BLUES, HICKEY. 21-13. Hickey slots another three-pointer after the visitors' backs stray offside on defence.

PENALTY, WARATAHS, FOLEY! 18-13. Foley makes no mistake from the tee after Tony Woodcock infringes at a ruck.

The 'Tahs are coming back strongly and take the ball through several phases inside the Blues' 22. Potgieter and Hooper are particularly prominent with ball in hand.

Palu dives onto a loose ball but is pinged for holding on to it on the ground. Hickey puts the penalty into touch on the visitors' five-metre line.

The Waratahs' tails are up and they take the ball into contact with Wycliff Palu close to the halfway line. It all comes to nothing ,however, when the hosts' forwards counter-ruck their opponents off the ball and are awarded the put-in to a scrum.

CONVERSION, WARATAHS, FOLEY! 18-10. Foley adds the extras to narrow the gap to eight points.

TRY, WARATAHS, POTGIETER! 18-8. The visitors take the ball close to the blues' try-line with Foley but, at the next ruck, Jacques Potgieter runs onto the ball at pace before crashing over!

Francis Saili is pinged for offside play. Foley kicks for touch and puts the ball out inside the hosts' 22.

CONVERSION, BLUES, HICKEY! 18-3. Hickey lands the place-kick from up against the touchline to put more daylight between his side and the visitors.

TRY, BLUES, F SAILI! 16-3. Foley launches a crossfield kick, just outside his 22, which bounces favourably for the hosts. Visinia gathers before passing to Piutau. He offloads to Francis Saili, who shrugs off a challenge from Hooper before scoring in the corner!

Charles Piutau puts the blues on the front-foot with an attacking run into the Waratahs' half. The Blues recycle quickly but a pass from Braid to Visina doesn't go to hand and Horne dives onto the loose ball.

Michael Hooper makes a break and the visitors are on the attack inside the Blues' 22! He is tackled by Visinia and the ball is recycled. Kurtley Beale takes it up but is knocked back by the combined efforts of Kaino and Keven Mealamu! When the ball fails to emerge at the ensuing maul it's the Blues' put-in at the scrum.

PENALTY, BLUES, HICKEY! 11-3. Hickey extends the home side's lead after Robinson is pinged for side-entry at a ruck.

The Blues show great continuity and take the ball through several phases with their forwards. Kaino and Patrick Tuipulotu win valuable ground before the ball comes out to the backs where Nonu stabs through a grubber kick which rolls into touch on the edge of the 'Tahs' 22-metre line.

Hickey gets the second half underway! His kick is gathered by Ashley-Cooper, who fails to control and the ball rolls into touch.

The Blues attack inside their half and from a ruck the ball comes out to Hickey who hoofs it into touch. That's the final act of the half as the siren has sounded to indicate half-time. Although the Blues are leading on the scoreboard, this is still anybody's game and the visitors are not out of it. Should be an interesting second half.

The Waratahs have an attacking line-out inside the Blues' 22 but it all goes awry when Will Skelton knocks on after Potgieter wins possession at the set-piece.

PENALTY, BLUES, FOLEY! 8-3. Foley gets the Waratahs' opening points, from the kicking tee, after the Blues' backs are pinned for being offside.

Jacques Potgieter offloads to Cam Crawford, who boots the ball ahead. Hickey gathers, inside his 22, but is tackled by Potgieter. The ball is recycled before Visinia boots it into touch on the halfway mark.

The Blues attack close to the halfway line but Francis Saili throws a shocking pass to Visinia, who knocks on.

Hickey takes the ball into contact but holds on to it after taking a big hit from Hooper. Foley puts the resulting penalty out on the Blues' 10-metre line.

Phipps tries to play the ball at the back of a Blues' scrum. He's offside and the referee penalises him. Hickey puts the ball out on the Waratahs 10-metre line.

TRY, BLUES, VISINIA! 8-0. The Blues attack inside the Waratahs' 22 and the ball comes out to Nonu, who throws a long pass to Lolagi Visinia! The big wing scores despite the attentions of two defenders!

Foley gets an opportunity to get the 'Tahs' first points after Donnelly is penalised for a ruck infringement. His effort is wide of the mark, however.

Hickey is pinged for not rolling away at a ruck. Foley kicks for touch and puts the ball out on the Blues' 10-metre line.

Benn Robinson is penalised for illegal scrummaging. Hickey puts the ball out deep inside the Waratahs' 22.

Nonu takes the ball into contact and is tackled by Horne. From the ruck, Lolagi Visinia gathers and is tackled by Nick Phipps, who is pinged for not releasing after his hit. Hickey kicks for touch and puts the ball out inside the visitors' 22.

PENALTY, BLUES, HICKEY! 3-0. Simon Hickey gets the game's opening points, from the kicking tee, after several Waratahs are pinged for being offside on defence.

Bryn Hall does well when he gathers a stray pass from Horne close to the halfway mark. He offloads to Ma'a Nonu, who kicks ahead but the ball goes into touch after bouncing off Israel Folau.

Kurtley Beale takes the ball into contact, just outside his 22, but is held up in contact by Jerome Kaino and Luke Braid. When the maul becomes static, the hosts get the put-in at the resulting scrum.

Adam Ashley-Cooper makes a break down the left-hand touchline and offloads to Rob Horne, who is in the clear! Frank Halai hauls him in close to the line but Horne stretches over the try-line and dots down! The referee checks with the TMO, who disallows the try as Horne didn't release the ball after being tackled.

Kick Off
Bernard Foley gets us underway! His kick is gathered just outside the Blues'' 22 by Tom Donnelly. The hosts go on a drive before taking it wide to their backs.

Waratahs coach Michael Cheika has named an unchanged starting XV after beating the Bulls in Sydney last weekend. Veteran Wycliff Palu returns via the bench after missing the last two games.

Blues head coach Sir John Kirwan has made four changes to his starting XV for this ANZAC day clash with the Waratahs. In the only change to the forward pack, Peter Saili makes his first start since Round Six at number eight in place of Steven Luatua. After Chris Noakes was ruled out of the clash earlier in the week following a concussion he sustained against the Hurricanes, Simon Hickey will start at fly-half. Ma'a Nonu has bounced back from a tight calf to start at inside centre ahead of Jackson Willison. And Frank Halai has also been reinstated to the starting XV ahead of George Moala after he produced a strong cameo off the bench last week. Piri Weepu has been cleared to play and has been named on the bench alongside Ihaia West who is poised to make his Super Rugby debut. West gets his chance after the Blues released ex Rugby League star Benji Marshall earlier in the week.
